An unordinary journey

Over the years my artful pursuits have taken a very unconventional path. From an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science to five years in the finance industry, it took me nearly a decade to realize that I am my happiest self when I create. What originally began as a recreational escape from the grind of academic and corporate existence has slowly evolved into an essential part of who I am and who I strive to become. Gone are the days of mindlessly pushing paint around a canvas with no intent other than to create something that’s visually appealing. With every moment I spend engaged in the creative process, I become more and more invested in what the resulting piece ultimately means to me and to anyone who happens to see it.

My work is inspired by my time spent traveling through the beautiful and mythic realm of West Texas, particularly influenced by a few poignant encounters that bordered on the surreal. Though my memory of these experiences continues to warp over time, the overarching themes of Fear, Death, and The Unknown have remained central figures in my retelling of these encounters and in my paintings that have emerged as a result. I continue to draw influence from these experiences, and my work reflects the struggle and angst that result from run-ins with these dark figures. I maintain a light and whimsical style counter to the somber subject matter by layering vibrant acrylic paint over endlessly hopeful canvas, creating spirited, dreamlike scenes.
